Confucius

Confucius was born in 551bc and died in 479bc. He was known as a teacher, politician and philosopher. He was born in 551bc in Zou. At the age of three his father (who was a military official) died in battle. At the age of nineteen he married Qui Guan who was only TWELVE at the time. When he was twenty three his mother died. It is said that he was in mourning for THREE years. After this period of time became a politician and philosopher. Confucius then died 479bc. I would compare Confucius to Mohatama Ghandi. Both were preachers and were oppressed. They were also leaders at some stage during their lives and they lived lives a of preaching and love.

The Terracotta Warriors

The terracotta army was mainly constructed to help Qin Shi Huang after death Qin was called the first emperor because he was the first emperor after the unification of China. There are 3 different places the terracotta army 1 of the pits contains upto 1000 clay figures reaching 2 meters high and another only holding 68. The terracotta army was built around 221bc and went on until 206bc. The site were the terracotta army was built was underground and the terracotta armies were lined up in rows like an army in real life would be like. The pits were built in Lintong District of Xi'an were it is only 20 miles from the burial place of Qin Shi Huang. One of the main feature of the site is that all the rows of soliders are lined up like they would be in an army and are showed from lowest rank to highest rank. Another feature is that all soldiers are differently presented out of the thousands of soldiers no 2 are alike. Also all of the soliders are built with different weapons and look and pose as if there about to battle. One thing historians have learned is that people back then were very obedient and respectful to their leaders and also that the Chinese have shown great care and respect towards the arts. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_is_the_Terracotta_Army Author: Not Given, Publishing Date: Not Given, Publishing place: Not Given The history of China Author: Lucia Garvin, Publishing Date: 1998, Publishing Place: Perth, Australia.

The Great Wall Of China

The Great Wall of China was built circa 7th Century in the Quin Dynasty. During the building, China was split into many different states. After the unification of the states the first emperor of the Quin dynasty formed the other walls of china together. The main reason the wall was built was to protect the various dynasties from raids by Mongol, Turkic, and other nomadic tribes coming in from different areas. The great wall of china was built after the unification of China each nation had there own wall during the separation when they joined the nations placed there walls together. This idea was mainly thought up by Qin Shi Huang, this emperor was also the first emperor of the unified China, he also was the man who created the terracotta army. The building of the great wall stretched from 221bc up until the 1500s, during the making of the wall hundreds of lives were lost. The wall was made to protect China from northern forces and the effect of the wall was fornomamnal they built little holes in the walls were they would fire arrows and cannons. The location of the great wall is located from the beginning in Qinhuangdao from the east and ends in Jiayuguan to the west. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qin_Shi_Huang Publishing date: Not given, Author: Not Given, Publishing place: Not Given http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/greatwall/Allabout.html Publishing Date 1996, Author: not given, Publishing place: Perth, Australia
